Wintergreen, Natural Stone Chimney

This shot shows a 30 foot chimney on a custom home located in Wintergreen. The chimney is covered in a natural stone called Chocolate Grey. Again, building with natural stone veneer requires special skills and a great deal of patience during the installation process. The Chocolate Grey stone is a mix of grays and browns with enough clefting to give that natural stone, rustic look.

This picture shows the workmanship required to properly fit the stone around each ceiling beam and the recessed lights just above the TV opening.

We built a floor to ceiling fireplace in a family room of a custom home in Wintergreen. We used QSV ShadowLedge stone laid using a no gout line dry-stack technique. Again note the custom cut and fit of the stone and the treatment along the top edge of the semi-round gas log insert. The open area in the middle is now occupied by a large screen plasma TV.

The same chimney showing a close up of the stone applied to the top 10-15 feet. You can see that our masons did an excellent job (if I do say so myself) of cutting and fitting the stone and maintaining very consistent and tight grout lines.

This is a shot of the new Associates Building at Wintergreen Ski Resort. The chimney is approximately 50' high and is covered with Quality Stone Veneer's Buckingham Fieldstone. The chimney chase was lathed followed by the application of a mortar scratch coat. The stone was then applied directly to the scratch coat.

Lynchburg Custom Home Fireplace

This is a fireplace front we did in a Lynchburg custom home. The stone is United Stone Veneer's Shade Mountain Fieldstone with a custom stone mantel and sawn slate hearth.
Wintergreen, Associates Building Chimney
We installed this dry-stack stone on three fireplaces in a very nice MJ Development custom home located in Brookstone Estates. Two of the fireplaces were installed the top of the 9' ceilings and the third in the great room was stoned to the top of the cathedral ceiling.)
